Smile 2 Trailer Review
Smile 2 teaser trailer has been released on the Paramount Pictures official YouTube channel. The psychological supernatural horror movie looks to continue the success established by its former counterpart Smile released back in 2022 as the project has now taken the shape of a franchise factor.
The teaser trailer released is about 2 minutes and 13 seconds long. The movie is set to feature Naomi Scott and Lukas Gage in the lead. From the trailer it can inferred that Naomi is playing the character of a pop singing sensation, apparently doing several concerts around the world.
However, the trouble begins when she encounters a personality affected by the Smile syndrome, and then she starts seeing things herself. Though the teaser trailer is quite fast-paced and some of the scenes do stand out, it kind of still misses that charm and chilling factor the first movie had.
Having said, that it's just the first teaser trailer, and the makers have found the right balance between giving the audience a sneak peek into the project and also keeping the excitement in store for the horror and supernatural fans.
Smile 2 Release Date
Paramount's Parker Finn-directed Smile 2 is slated to hit the theatres on October 18, 2024, in the USA. No other major details at this stage point towards a different release date for the movie in other territories. So, as of now, it may oversee a similar Halloween month release date overall.
What to Expect From the Movie
After watching the teaser trailer and from the atmospheric perception of it, Smile 2 does manage to land certain jump scares effectively. Though the settings may seem different from its predecessor 2022's Smile, the overall scare, unsettling consequences, and chills do seem to be there.
Also, the way Naomi Scott has managed to get under the skin of her character, the casting does appear viable. Her looks do resemble the character she has been given. Lukas Gage also looks set to deliver a strong performance. The story and the plot utilizing similar patterns as the first movie look quite promising.
Though what's new is going to be offered here for the fans of the genre remains to be witnessed. A lot will also depend on the initial word of mouth for the movie when it hits the theatres hoping to replicate the commercial and to an extent the critical success of Smile released in 2022.
